Celebrating 10 years of Earmark Hearing Conservation in Philadelphia!
In April 2015, I officially launched Earmark Hearing Conservation with the mission to improve the hearing health of the Philadelphia music community.
Now ten years later we are looking back at all we've accomplished: care for thousands of musicians' and sound people's ears, collaborations with Tuned and MusiCares, guest lectures at universities and music schools, services at countless recording and rehearsal studios in the area, and in-services at some of the best venues in the city. Not only did the practice survived the covid-19 pandemic, but as the demand for live music returned it continued to expand to a point where I had to make the tough decision to leave my dream position as a Senior Audiologist at CHOP (this is a bittersweet milestone worth further discussion at another time) to focus on cultivating the further growth of Earmark.
But it hasn’t been a lonely path. In 2022, through collaboration with Juan Vasquez, Mary Kim, and Scott Hallam, we launched the first and only (that we know of) Music Audiology focused podcast, Talking Ears. Now we can say it is an award winning show since we won the 2023 NHCA Media Award in our first year of broadcasting. 35 episodes in, we are showing no signs of slowing down, and are excited to share the upcoming 4th season.
10 years is objectively a long time. Yes. But it feels like a blur when I reflect on all that has gone down. Still, I find myself more excited about what's to come. We have huge plans for the next 10 years, and it's because of the support of every mentor, collaborator, and patient that we've gotten to this point.

Word of mouth is our primary advertising strategy and it has proven to be the strongest one out there.
