Music Audiology at the NHCA National Hearing Conservation Association 2025 Conference

2025 was a huge year for Music Audiology at the NHCA conference in Charleston, SC. Frank Wartinger (owner of Earmark Hearing Conservation and co-host of Talking Ears) put together a full-day workshop on Updates in Music Audiology, and through the power (magic?) of technology (also magic?) we were able to transport your ears back-in-time and over-in-space to be in the room where it happened, so to speak. After all, when one gathers the best speakers in the field in one room, it would be a shame to keep all that content to oneself.

Here is a play list of over four and a half hours of podcast content from the NHCA conference. 4.5 hours! 270 minutes, give or take. That is a full hour longer than The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King… That is approximately the length of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2… That is less than 1 hour shy of the total play time of all 8 Talking Heads studio albums… What I’m trying to say, is this is a lot of content and is obviously of equal cultural importance as Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter and the Talking Heads. I digress.

Note: the content of these episodes has been edited slightly for the audio-only format of the podcast. These lecture recordings are not eligible for CEUs. If you want the full educational experience, we invite you to seek out the National Hearing Conservation Association and our annual conferences.

These episodes often feature original music. To hear the full tracks, visit the new Original Music Of Talking Ears album. If you like the show (or the music) and want to support us, you may choose to donate through bandcamp. It would probably go towards funding some coffee so we can keep awake so we can make more of this show and music. And coffee.

As we prepare Season 4 for your ears, we would love to hear more of your feedback on the show. Do you want to hear more of this type of Continuing Education type content? Do you agree that panel discussions make for compelling podcast listening? Would you like me to continue comparing other media to Talking Ears based on non-contributory factors such as total run time? We want to know! If you've listened (and read) this far, YOU are our target audience of dedicated listeners, and you can help shape the future sound of Talking Ears. We invite you to share your questions, your requests, your responses, or your praise/critics. We'll take it all! While you’re at it, please take a moment to give us a 5 star review on Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcasts. After all - we are all ears, so to speak.
